A few weekends ago I had the opportunity to attend the second annual Battle on the Blue skateboard competition in my hometown of Breckenridge, Colorado. Friday was pretty unfortunate as there was suppose to be a free PROgression session that was suppose to go down from 4-6pm, but due to the weather, that got moved indoors to the gym's rec center, and like myself no one showed up. This event is geared towards all levels of skateboarders, from those who are just beginning, to those who have been skateboarding their whole life .To spice up the incentive first place from each event will receive an automatic entry to the semi-finals of the Rocky Mountain rampage! We were lucky enough to have clear skies Saturday, and the event kicked off at 10:00am sharp with the Boys 14 and under street competition.

From left to right; Jake Canter of Breckenridge, Co took home the Gold, Lennox Elhres grabbed the Silver, and Another local Collin Hyon snagged the Bronze. Next up was the 15 and over Street Competition, I was mainly filming the event, so I didn't get much photo coverage of the hammers that were being thrown down. So here's another photo of our podium winners.

From right to left; Colorado Springs local Reid Watson took home the gold, Jesse "Motor" Scelso grabbed the Silver and another Breck local Andrew "Tito" Hook took home the Bronze. Jesse also snagged himself the best trick in street with a Boneless 50-50 on the mine cart.

After the Street Contest we jumped on over to the 15 and under in the mini bowl. You could tell Luke Brewer is a local to this bowl as he pieces together clean lines. Unfortunately his friends knocked him out of a podium spot.

Ryder Reed lays out a Frontside 5-0 during the contest to land him a spot on the podium. Collin Hyon scooped up the Gold, Ryder Reed snagged the Silver and 9 year old Ben Longley took home the Bronze for the 15 and under mini bowl. Next we jumped into some warm up heats in the big bowl, but not before the 15 and under threw on a little demo for everyone!

After the 15 and under threw down a little demo, it was on to the big dawgs in the 15 and over. Broken down into multiple heats. Everyone gathered around to witness these heavy hitters that came from all over the state and surrounding states.

Final Results;
1st: Chuck Pontone
2nd: Zach Cusano
3rd: Stefan Wilson
Don't forget to check out the Rocky Mountain Rampage August 18-20. Another event held by Sk8-Strong. This event is Colorado's premier Pro/Am skate contest held in Colorado Springs. It's an authentic grassroots competition for skateboarders, by skateboarders. Hope to see everyone there!
